Eric Demetris Willis, 19, was shot and killed on March 15, 2020, at the Atascocita High School football field in Humble, Texas. Willis, a former Humble Independent School District student and recent signee to play college football in Oklahoma, was taking part in a seven-on-seven game with friends when the shooting occurred. Surveillance video shows the shooter charging the field and firing multiple times. Willis was taken to Kingwood Hospital and died of his wounds.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified 19-year-old Jaqwaun Glenn Pradia as the shooter. Investigators say Pradia and Willis had a history of disputes; Pradia arrived armed, confronted Willis, then fled the scene. Multiple witnesses later identified Pradia and a warrant was issued for his arrest. During the subsequent trial, Pradia did not explain his actions and the motive remains unclear.
Willis is remembered by family and teammates as a promising young athlete whose life was cut short. Anyone with information about the shooting or the events leading up to it is asked to come forward.
