Jason Ray Rush, 38, of Silsbee, Texas, was killed by a single gunshot at his home on FM 1122 north of Silsbee on March 13, 2020. Deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office found him deceased in the late afternoon, about 4:30 p.m., after responding to a call reporting the shooting.

Investigators arrested 29-year-old Ryan Michael Hinkie of Silsbee later that day at a residence on Twin Bridges Road. Hinkie was charged with murder and was arraigned by Hardin County Justice of the Peace Melissa Minton. He is being held in the Hardin County Jail on bond set at $1,000,000. Authorities have not released a motive and the investigation is ongoing.

Rush is survived by his son, Jason Rush Jr., his mother and stepfather, Alecia and Gary Laskoskie, his father, ElRay Rush Jr., and his brothers, Randy and Ricky Rush. Does anyone in the Silsbee area have information about that afternoon or about the people involved?
