A Jan. 31, 2020 house fire in El Campo, Texas, turned out to be a deadly crime scene. First responders arrived after a call about a shooting around 1 a.m.; the house was fully engulfed when police and firefighters arrived. Fire crews found 23-year-old Keshun Riggins inside; he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old woman, identified as Kaydra Sparks, was found inside with multiple gunshot wounds and was airlifted to a hospital for surgery.

Riggins’ grandmother, Janice Bluntson, said he had been living with her and acknowledged his involvement in drug dealing, suggesting the shooting and fire may have been retaliation for a drug deal gone bad. El Campo Police Chief Terry Stanphill would not confirm a drug motive but said the home had been a frequent location for drug-related activity. The El Campo Police Department, Wharton County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal and Texas Rangers were involved in the investigation. No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified.

Did anyone in the community have information about activity at that house around late January 2020?
