Thao Ton, a 44-year-old Asian male, was shot and killed on January 15, 2020, around 2 p.m. at the Spicewood Square Chevron on State Highway 71 in Spicewood, Texas. According to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting followed a non-collision road rage incident that escalated into a physical altercation after both men pulled into the convenience store parking lot. Witnesses said Ton began assaulting 36-year-old Milton Kim while Kim was seated in his car; Kim then shot Ton twice, and Ton died at the scene.
Milton Kim cooperated with investigators and held a valid Texas License to Carry at the time. The sheriff’s office obtained an arrest warrant for murder, and the case was referred to the 33rd/424th District Attorney’s Office for grand jury consideration. Investigators concluded the scene evidence undermined any claim of justification, prompting the murder charge against Kim.
Does anyone have information about the incident at the Spicewood Square Chevron or recall seeing either man that afternoon?
