Jabari Cephus was 20 when he was shot and killed on December 29, 2019, in the parking lot of the Regency at Dell Ranch apartment complex in Round Rock, Texas. The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m.; officers who responded to reports of gunshots found Cephus with gunshot wounds and he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Investigators reported the incident grew out of a dispute between two people who knew each other.

Two other subjects were detained at the scene, though their roles were unclear at the time. The Round Rock Police Department named a subject of interest but did not release a name. The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Pflugerville Police Department.

Cephus’s family said he was a good kid who had recently gotten his driver’s license and that he left behind a 3-month-old daughter with his fiancé. The family held a balloon release at the place he was killed. Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities handling the case.
