James Allen Clark Jr., 59, of Jasper, Texas, was fatally shot on November 21, 2019, on County Road 4415 near Spurger. Another man, 50-year-old Damon Mitchell Odom, was injured in the same shooting. A manhunt followed; a suspect identified as Duhon was arrested two days later after deputies found his vehicle abandoned in a wooded area near Evadale.

Duhon was charged with murder and attempted murder, with bond set at $1 million for each charge. The victims’ families set up a Facebook donation page to help cover funeral expenses. The case prompted a significant local law enforcement response and drew community attention.
