Marquel Ellis Jr, a 16-year-old sophomore at Allen High School, was shot and killed on November 16, 2019, during a house party in the 3200 block of Peachtree Lane in Plano, Texas. Marquel, an athlete on the school’s football and basketball teams known as ManMan, was inside playing video games when someone fired into the short-term rental where the gathering was held. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later died of his injuries.

The investigation resulted in two arrests. A 17-year-old, Kemond Smith of Forney, Texas, was arrested on a murder charge two days after the shooting and was believed to have fired the fatal shots. An 18-year-old, Christian Treyshun Hill, was also arrested and charged with murder. Arrest documents allege both suspects fired at least 18 rounds into the house as several teens were being asked to leave.

Family, teammates and school staff described Marquel as a kind, determined student and a good teammate. The school provided counselors to help students cope, and neighbors raised concerns about short-term rental safety following the shooting. Does anyone have information about that night or recall activity in the Peachtree Lane area that could help clarify what happened?
