Craig Treyvon Garner, 31, of Texarkana, Texas, was killed during a home invasion on November 9, 2019. The attack occurred at about 1 a.m. when three teenagers forced entry into what they believed was a target’s apartment but had mistakenly entered Garner’s unit. Garner was shot in the doorway of his bedroom with a .40 caliber handgun and later died at a local hospital. He worked at Mayo Manufacturing Corporation and attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, A’Kayla Garner, and their four children.

Three suspects were identified: Daveon Woods (known as Shoota), Cameron Ware, and Kentraile Collins Jr. Woods was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison; that conviction was upheld by the Texas Sixth Court of Appeals in 2021, with parole eligibility in 2059. Ware testified against Woods and faces capital murder and aggravated robbery charges; Collins was arrested and charged with capital murder in August 2020, with jury selection set for February 2023.
