Isaac Andre Ybarra, 34, was shot to death in the early hours of November 5, 2019, after an altercation in Edna, Texas. Born September 16, 1985, in Galveston, he was the son of Gloria Hernandez and Mario Ybarra and is survived by daughters Brea Tompkins and JazLynn Pesek, son Adrian Morris, sister Solana Ybarra, and brothers Warren and Joe William Hernandez.
A suspect, 39-year-old Justin David Lopez, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on January 14, 2020, in Laredo, Texas. Prosecutors said the shooting followed a heated exchange that escalated into violence. Lopez was tried and found guilty of murder, a first-degree felony, and the jury sentenced him to life imprisonment; appeals raising claims of insufficient evidence, due process violations, and ineffective assistance of counsel were denied.
The family and the Edna community continue to feel the loss. If anyone knew Isaac, witnessed the events of that night, or has information that could shed further light, please share it.
