Kevin Berry, 23, of Dallas, Texas, was killed on October 27, 2019, at a Halloween-themed homecoming party called Twerk or Treat held at The Party Venue near Greenville, about 20 miles from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Berry was attending the event with family and was described by his mother Nakima Alexander as a loving, caring father of two with a third child on the way. He was one of two people killed in the shooting; Byron Craven Jr., 23, of Arlington, was the other, and 12 more people were injured. The event drew roughly 750 attendees.

Authorities arrested 23-year-old Brandon Ray Gonzales of Greenville on charges of capital murder within 48 hours and held him at the Hunt County jail with bail set at $1 million. Gonzales acknowledged being at the party but denied firing a weapon, saying he had been outside in a car when the shooting started; investigators cite witness statements and evidence that point to Gonzales. The motive has not been disclosed and the weapon remained unlocated as the investigation continued.

A vigil for Berry was held at St. Augustine Park in Dallas; his sister Taviara called the shooting senseless. Does anyone who attended the party or was in the area that night have information that could help investigators?
