I just read about how Andrew Jared Bass was found guilty of the murders, and I can't stop thinking about how this must have affected Skipper Wells Jr.'s family. Losing both a father and son on the same day in such a senseless act of violence is unimaginable. Their shared love for the outdoors and the bond they had with each other is something that should've been cherished for years to come, not cut short by such a cruel act. It's deeply troubling to think that the murderer tried to disguise his actions with a self-defense claim that was clearly unfounded. The fact that he bought them drinks and drugs to lure them to his property shows premeditation, and removing the surveillance cameras says a lot about his intentions. The jury's decision to convict Bass and sentence him to life in prison is a small solace for the families, who deserved justice for their beloved family members. I hope the community in Dayton can rally around the victims’ families in support. It's so important for them to know they're not alone in this, and that Skipper's legacy of love, family, and the great outdoors will always be remembered. My heart goes out to Shawnda, Cassandra, Travis, Tyler, and Tristin, who have to find a way to move forward without their father and brother.
