Eric Mbognou Big, a 24-year-old man of Cameroonian ethnicity, was found shot to death on September 18, 2019, next to his car on the southbound side of the 610 West Loop in Bellaire, Texas. He had been working as a ride-share driver earlier that morning and was not carrying a passenger when he was killed. The wound was to the chest.

Personal items including his wallet, credit cards, phones, and his Mercedes were reported not stolen. Mbognou Big had arrived in the United States about two years earlier under asylum from Cameroon and regularly supported his family back home. Bellaire police have released little information and no arrests or suspects have been named; the investigation remains open. His family has been seeking answers and set up a GoFundMe to return his body to Cameroon.
