Richey Dean Stewart, a 52-year-old white man from Loraine, Texas, was found dead on August 23, 2019, inside the sleeper of a semi-truck in the 4100 block of County Road 63 in Midland. Deputies from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office responded about 9:30 a.m. after a report of an unconscious male and discovered Stewart had suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest, the cause of death. The sheriff’s office quickly classified the death as a homicide and processed the scene, but no arrests were made and no suspects were identified.

Midland Crime Stoppers offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Despite publicity and investigative efforts, the case had become cold and remained unsolved as of the latest available update.
