John Eric Martinez, 23, of Corpus Christi, Texas, was shot and killed on July 30, 2019. Described as quiet and private but generous and devout, he enjoyed baseball, basketball and fishing and was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

The shooting occurred after an altercation inside a convenience store on the 3900 block of South Padre Island Drive. The Nueces County Medical Examiner ruled the death a result of the shooting.

Daniel Adame, 23, was identified as the shooter; he turned himself in, was arrested and booked into Nueces County Jail with bond set at $1 million and was charged with murder. The loss remains a significant blow to his family and community.
