Carl Dee Lueck, 46, was shot and killed at his home in the Trinity River Lake subdivision in Liberty County on May 22, 2019. The wound was to his upper left chest; deputies found him deceased after a report at about 7:58 p.m. The shooting followed a domestic conflict at the residence involving Lueck and Isaiah Jacob Kopeski, then 18, who was working on his truck in the front yard.
Kopeski retrieved a 20-gauge sawed-off shotgun and pointed it at Lueck; Lueck allegedly taunted him about not having the guts to fire, and a single shot struck Lueck. Kopeski was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder and possession of a prohibited weapon; bond was set at $1,020,000. Justice of the Peace Cody Parrish conducted an inquest and the body was sent to the Jefferson County morgue for autopsy.
The investigation continued to determine full circumstances. Does anyone have information about the events at the Trinity River Lake residence that evening?
