Marcus Demond Elam, 39, of Silsbee, Texas, was shot and killed on South 1st Street in Silsbee on April 29, 2019. Responding officers and Crossroads EMS performed lifesaving measures at the scene; Elam was later pronounced dead at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Silsbee Police identified Reginald Carvin Kyles, 63, of Silsbee, as the suspect. Kyles was arrested and charged with murder and held in the Hardin County Jail on a bond set at $750,000 by a justice of the peace. The investigation into the circumstances of Elam’s death was ongoing.

Anyone who knew Marcus, witnessed events on South 1st Street that day, or has information relevant to the investigation is asked to come forward.
