William Lebleu, 33, of Athens, Texas, was shot twice with a shotgun during an early-morning altercation at a residence in the Athens area on April 11, 2019. He was airlifted to a Tyler hospital and pronounced dead. Stewart Prewitt, 53, was arrested at the scene. Authorities said the men had a history of arguments and that Lebleu went to Prewitt’s house carrying what appeared to be a handgun; that item was later determined to be an airsoft gun.

Lebleu was described as a musician and tattoo artist who loved the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter Tara Lebleu, his mother Sherry Shepherd, his brothers, and his fiance9 Lisa Eckert; his funeral was held April 20, 2019, in Evangeline, Louisiana. The shooting prompted a homicide investigation and criminal charges against Prewitt.
