George Gabriel Casillas, 37, of New Braunfels, Texas, died on April 7, 2019, after being found outside his home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The shooting was linked to an ongoing disturbance at Casillas’ residence.
Samuel Ray Heard, 40, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the killing. Police say Heard fired multiple rounds from a .22-caliber rifle during the disturbance; he was held at the Comal County Jail on a first-degree felony charge. Carol Heard, Samuel’s sister and Casillas’ girlfriend, has claimed her brother acted in self-defense, while police maintained the shooting was not justified.
The case drew close community attention because it involved a domestic disturbance, contested self-defense claims, and the death of a 37-year-old man. Does anyone have information about the disturbance that night or about Casillas’ last known movements?
