Tony Samuel Houston, 44, of Huffman, Texas, was killed on April 7, 2019 after an argument during an eviction at the travel trailer where he was living behind a business complex. Known as Sam, Houston was active in charity work and enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, gardening and music; he is remembered as free-spirited and outgoing with a large circle of friends and family.
Court documents name 32-year-old Darren Petix of Humble as the person who went to the trailer, engaged in the argument and then shot Houston. Petix told officers Houston threatened to retrieve a knife, and Petix shot him in the back; when Houston continued to move Petix approached and shot him twice in the head. Petix claimed self-defense, but investigators concluded otherwise and charged him with murder; he was released after posting a $60,000 bond.
What does anyone who knew Tony or was in the Huffman area that day remember about the eviction or the events leading up to the shooting?
