Brandy Marie Cano, 23, died on March 11, 2019, at her home in the 6900 block of Pleak Crossing in Richmond, Texas. She and Santana Ray Losoya, 24, had been in a relationship for six years and shared a 3-year-old daughter. Deputies responded after Cano’s grandmother called 911 after hearing a gunshot and found Cano dead in a bedroom.

Losoya told investigators he picked up a gun and said he was trying to leave the house when Cano tried to stop him; he stated the gun accidentally discharged and struck Cano in the head. Losoya was arrested and charged with murder and was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.
