Antonio Labrada, a 30-year-old Hispanic man from Texarkana, Texas, was shot and killed on March 2, 2019, in the 2300 block of Summerhill Road. According to reports, the shooting followed a heated argument with his 23-year-old nephew, Melchor Antonio Labrada Hernandez, over money. Labrada drove to Hernandez’s residence after a telephone dispute; a physical fight broke out in the front yard and was broken up, and Labrada was shot once in the chest as he began to walk away. He died at the scene and Hernandez fled but turned himself in later the same day.

Police executed a search warrant and recovered a .22 caliber rifle believed to be the weapon. An arrest warrant for murder was issued; Hernandez was booked into the Bi-State Jail and pleaded not guilty at arraignment. Prosecutors faced a notable hurdle when members of Labrada’s family declined to cooperate with the district attorney’s office, reportedly citing concerns about Hernandez’s immigration status.

Are there witnesses or neighbors who recall the early-morning disturbance on March 2, 2019, or who have information about events at the Summerhill Road residence?
