Kristy Nicole Perez, 38, was one of two women found fatally shot inside a Longview home on February 19, 2019. Officers responded about 12:40 a.m. to a residence in the 1700 block of Loring Lane, off H.G. Mosley Parkway, and discovered the bodies of Kristy and 58-year-old Lori Susan Perez. The relationship between the two women is not specified in reports.

Shortly after the shootings, police arrested 43-year-old Troy James Rider, Jr., at a nearby apartment complex. Authorities said domestic violence may have been a factor, and the Gregg County District Attorney stated Rider was to be charged with capital murder. Bond was set at $2 million, with $1 million attributed to each life taken. Investigators sent the victims to Dallas for autopsy.
