Ashraf Lakhani, 51, was shot and killed during an armed robbery at the Valero gas station on East Corporate Drive in Lewisville, Texas, on February 15, 2019. Working the overnight shift, she handed over cash from the register after two male suspects demanded money; the entire encounter lasted about 30 seconds. A customer interrupted the robbery, found Lakhani lying on the floor, and she was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Lakhani, of Pakistani descent, had recently married and was the mother of two adult sons. Two 21-year-old men, Jamarque Jamez Washington and Kwame Juwanzaa Mickels, were identified as suspects. Washington was arrested in September 2019 in San Antonio in a separate deadly shooting; evidence from that scene linked him to Lakhani’s murder and he confessed to killing her during a detective interview. Mickels was arrested October 28, 2019, in Carrollton and also confessed during an interview. Both were charged with capital murder and booked into the Lewisville Jail.

The community held a vigil outside the Valero and Lakhani’s family asked anyone with information to come forward. Is there anyone who knew Ashraf or who was in the area that overnight and can add details about the robbery?
