Gary Clifton Holland, a 60-year-old man from Silsbee, Texas, was shot to death on February 2, 2019. He had been spending the day and evening with 56-year-old Charles Dewain Dear Jr.; both men were reported to have been intoxicated when a dispute over money escalated. The argument continued at a residence in the 4000 block of Lindsey Road near Silsbee and ended inside a travel trailer when Holland was shot multiple times with a .22-caliber rifle and died at the scene.
Charles Dewain Dear Jr. was arrested at the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder; he was held in the Hardin County Jail on a $1 million bond. Holland was remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor and love of country music. His funeral was held February 8, 2019, with interment at Holland Cemetery in Kountze.
Are there details from that night or the residence on Lindsey Road that anyone in the area can share to help the record of what happened?
