Sergio Rodriguez-Arevalo, a 22-year-old Hispanic man from Kyle, Texas, was shot multiple times during a narcotics transaction on November 14, 2018, in the 500 block of Cody Lane and later died at a local hospital. Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a dispute over drugs.

Police arrested 20-year-old Francisco Antonio Cardona at the scene and charged him with first-degree murder; Cardona was placed in the Hays County Jail. Reports note both Rodriguez-Arevalo and Cardona had extensive criminal histories.

Family and friends remembered Rodriguez-Arevalo as a loving husband, father, and son. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
