Charlie Wayne Daniel Jr., 37, of Batson, Texas, was shot and killed on November 2, 2018, in Saratoga. Known as Lil Charlie, he was a self-employed welder who enjoyed trail riding and fishing. He was found in the 13000 block of FM 787 with a fatal gunshot wound.

The shooting also wounded 35-year-old Jacklyn Yvonne Sanders, who survived and was expected to recover. The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene; Gerald Wayne Tomlinson, 71, of Saratoga, was arrested and formally charged with murder in connection with Daniel’s death. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved as the case moved through legal proceedings.
