Nicky Sandoval was 25 and Hispanic when he was killed on October 13, 2018, in Taft, Texas. He was one of four people fatally shot during a birthday party for a 1-year-old in the 500 block of Wilburn Street. The shooting began after an altercation involving uninvited guests and followed an earlier accusation that Juan Espinoza Sr. had been acting as a peeping Tom at the residence; Espinoza Sr. was also killed in the incident.
Ronnie Rodriguez Jr. was convicted on multiple capital murder counts and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His father, Ronnie Rodriguez Sr., is reported to have participated in the shooting and remains in custody awaiting trial. Limited public detail exists about the events that led up to the confrontation or the other victims’ identities.
Did anyone at the party or neighborhood see uninvited guests arrive or leave that night who could add detail to what happened?
