Shannon Guthrie, 29, of Weatherford, Texas, was shot in the head and killed on August 5, 2018, during an argument in the 100 block of Dill Road, a rural area north of Weatherford. Guthrie was pregnant; her unborn child later died after being delivered at the hospital. The argument began over a weapon and turned physical, and the gun discharged during the struggle.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office investigated with assistance from the Texas Rangers. On March 11, 2019, a grand jury indicted 29-year-old Christopher Wilkerson for the murder of Shannon Guthrie and her unborn child; a warrant was issued for his arrest. Wilkerson was already in jail on unrelated charges when the indictment was returned. The investigation remains active as authorities continue building the case.
