Tony L. Williams, 47, was shot dead inside the Kansas City home he shared with his girlfriend on Monday, April 8, 2013. The shooting occurred in the 3000 block of Cleveland Avenue after an earlier altercation that day between Williams and another man. Witnesses told police about that prior fight, and at approximately 3:30 p.m. a group of men arrived at the residence seeking to confront Williams; during that confrontation one of them fatally shot him.

Kansas City police opened a homicide investigation and reported that no arrests had been made at the time. Details about the suspects remained scarce and the case was described as ongoing, with Williams family members left grieving and awaiting answers.
