Lisa Blankenship, 58, of Brownfield, Texas, was killed on July 15, 2018, during a domestic dispute at the couple’s home on County Road 260 southeast of Meadow. She was born April 30, 1960, in Lubbock and raised in Meadow. Known for rescuing dogs and for her kindness, she was a mother of three and a grandmother to seven.

The Terry County Sheriff’s Office reported Lisa died of a single gunshot wound. Her husband, Kurt Blankenship, was arrested at the scene after Lisa called 911 and was booked into the Terry County jail on a murder charge; no bond was set. The Texas Rangers assisted the ongoing investigation and the sheriff said the circumstances that led to the argument and shooting were still under investigation.
