Christian Riley Garcia was a 15-year-old student from Crosby and Santa Fe, Texas, killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting on May 18, 2018. The attack occurred during first period art class and claimed ten lives, including eight students and two substitute teachers.
Witnesses say Garcia held a door shut in the art hallway, delaying the gunman and allowing other students time to escape. He was shot through the door and died at the scene. His actions have been described by family, friends, and members of the community as courageous and selfless.
Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student, carried out the attack; he was arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault. Christian Garcia’s family and community continue to honor his memory and press for measures to improve school safety.
If anyone knew Christian or witnessed his actions that day, please share information or memories that could help remember him.
