Christopher Jake Chris Stone was a 17-year-old junior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas. He was active on the JV football team and the ultimate frisbee team and remembered by family and friends as sweet, loving and down-to-earth — often the life of the party with his singing, laughter and dance battles.

Chris was killed on May 18, 2018, when a gunman entered his art classroom during the Santa Fe High School shooting. He attempted to protect classmates by barricading the closet door but was one of ten people killed in the attack. The suspect, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, was arrested and charged with capital murder; reports say the weapons used had been taken from his parents’ home without their knowledge. Chris’s parents later filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the suspect’s parents alleging negligence in securing the firearms.

Chris’s family and friends remember him as brave and kind-hearted. If anyone knew Chris or has information that could add to the record of that day, please share what you know.
