On May 5, 2018, 19-year-old Hispanic male Gilberto Alejandro Hernandez was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Cicis Pizza at 1037 Northwest Highway in Garland, Texas. The shooting happened about 4 p.m.; officers found Hernandez with multiple gunshot wounds and he was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators identified 36-year-old Hispanic male Oscar Baldamir-Hernandez as the suspect. Police say Baldamir-Hernandez confronted Gilberto Alejandro Hernandez in the parking lot and shot him several times before fleeing. Baldamir-Hernandez was arrested later that evening in Mesquite and charged with murder; he was held in the Garland jail with no bond. The motive for the confrontation and shooting was reported as unclear.
The killing had a deep impact on Hernandez’s family and the local community. Does anyone have information about Gilberto Alejandro Hernandez, his activities that day, or witnesses who saw the confrontation in the parking lot?
