Matthew Liggins, 28, was shot to death on April 17, 2018, while sitting in the driver’s seat of a Jeep on the 1000 block of Juarez Street in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was found in the early morning with multiple gunshot wounds, taken to a hospital, and died shortly after arrival.
Two people were arrested in connection with the killing. Eric Glenn Lee II, 22, was taken into custody several hours after the shooting at a residence on Gladiolus Street and initially charged with capital murder; court filings allege he demanded property from Liggins, fired when Liggins said he had nothing, grabbed a drawstring bag from the Jeep, and fled. Lee later accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 45 years in prison, with eligibility for parole after serving half the sentence. Precious Nicole Tillery, 19, was also arrested and charged with capital murder, but the grand jury later declined to indict her and the case was dismissed.
The plea negotiations involved discussions with Liggins’ family, who preferred to avoid a trial and expressed that the agreement allowed them to avoid the emotional toll of a lengthy trial process.
If anyone witnessed the early-morning shooting on Juarez Street or has information about the events that led up to it, please share what is known.
