Quintarius Young, 29, was killed in a March 29, 2018 shooting at the Cross Creek Apartments on Alma Drive in Plano. Police found Young dead at the scene; three other people were shot and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours.

Eighteen-year-old Franklin Barnes was arrested later the same day in McKinney and charged with Young’s murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault. Investigators connected Barnes to the scene using cell phone records and witness statements. Barnes admitted being at the complex and said he had bought marijuana from Young earlier that day but denied being the triggerman. Barnes’s girlfriend, who was present, has not been charged.

Arlington homicide detectives are looking into a possible link between this shooting and a same-day double murder in Arlington; they say more work is needed before any additional charges are filed. If anyone has information about the events that night or knew Quintarius Young, please come forward and share what you know.
