Larry Anthony Quinn Thomas was 17 when he was shot outside his home on Bonnie Lane in Copperas Cove, Texas, at about 10:15 p.m. on November 9, 2017. He suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, was taken first to Darnall Army Community Hospital, then transferred to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where he was pronounced dead the next day.
Investigators say Thomas had met earlier that day with others at a local pizzeria and arrangements were made for him to obtain marijuana. The shooting followed an altercation between the suspects and the victim. Two men from Copperas Cove — Jamiroquai Michael Onyemaechi Rodriguez Kiaunte Ejiawoko, 17, and Joshua David Vega, 23 — were arrested on November 15, 2017, and charged with murder with $500,000 surety bonds. A third person of interest, Andrew Sommervold, 21, was arrested in California on December 3, 2017, and later extradited; he was described as Asian or Pacific Islander, about 5 feet 9 inches and approximately 245 pounds with long curly black hair. A female juvenile was also sought but not identified.
