On November 8, 2017, 12-year-old Trintin Glenn of Kountze, Texas, died after a hunting rifle accidentally discharged at a home in the 2600 block of FM 418 just after 6 p.m. Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis confirmed the shooting was accidental. Trintin was a sixth grader at Kountze Intermediate School who participated in football, basketball, baseball and UIL math competitions. He was also an avid skateboarder and bicyclist and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, where his smile was remembered by many.

Kountze ISD and the community mourned his loss, emphasizing memories of his vibrant, joyful presence and support for his family and friends. No arrests, suspects or murder investigations were reported because authorities determined the death was an accident.
