Christopher Collinvitti, 58, was shot and killed on November 7, 2017, in the garage of his Plano, Texas home after returning from the post office. He was an electrical engineer at Raytheon. Collinvitti suffered two close-range gunshot wounds to the head; nothing was taken from the house.
The investigation produced few leads at first. In December 2019, surveillance video identified a possible suspect vehicle and ballistics linked shell casings from Collinvitti’s murder to other Dallas County crimes. Those developments led to arrests in the case, including a man identified as the gunman and two others charged in connection with the killing. One defendant has been convicted and sentenced to life without parole; the other two are awaiting trial.
The case drew attention for the long period before a break and for the impact on Collinvitti’s family and the Plano community. If anyone knew Collinvitti, observed suspicious activity near his home on November 7, 2017, or has information about the vehicle seen on surveillance, please come forward.
