Darryl Hawking, 22, was killed on September 10, 2017, in Plano, Texas, during a mass shooting at a Dallas Cowboys watch party hosted by Meredith Hight. The shooter, identified as Spencer Hight, Meredith’s estranged husband, arrived at the party and opened fire around 8 p.m.; gunfire continued until a responding officer engaged and fatally shot the gunman. Nine people in total, including the shooter, died in what the Plano Police Department described as the city’s deadliest mass shooting.

Hawking worked as a sales consultant at an Acura dealership in Plano and was remembered by friends and family as a positive, loving person. No additional arrests or suspects were reported. Three years after the shooting, Hawking’s family was reunited with his missing class ring, which had been found on a suspect along with other stolen items.
