Carlton Griffin, 46, of Crosby, Texas, was shot and killed on July 28, 2017, at Crosby Park after going to confront a man who had come to his home earlier that day and pulled a gun. During the confrontation, Griffin was fatally shot and his 17-year-old stepson, Leonard Taylor, was injured. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office linked the shooting to the earlier altercation. Witnesses said two men were seen leaving the scene on foot.
The investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Marcos Salas of Houston, who was charged with murder and aggravated assault. Salas had prior arrests for theft and drugs. Griffin’s family described him as the glue that held them together, and his death deeply affected those who knew him.
