Brandon Lamar Washington, a 26-year-old African American man, was shot and killed on July 19, 2017, in Amarillo, Texas. He was found in the parking lot of a convenience store near Polk Street and Amarillo Boulevard with multiple gunshot wounds, taken to a hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Matthew Dewon Wilson, who was indicted on murder charges and taken into custody the same day. Court documents note Wilson had a prior conviction for Deadly Conduct - Discharging a Firearm from 2007. The 47th District Attorney’s Office handled prosecution of the case.
Washington’s family said he had moved to Amarillo from Florida to start over, loved sports and enjoyed sharing statistics about professional athletes. His sister La’Quita Smith remembered him as full of life and the favorite uncle to her children. Does anyone have information about Washington that could help shed light on what happened that night?
