Cedathion Rashard Dill, 35, was fatally shot outside an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Magnolia in Beaumont, Texas, late on June 29, 2017. The shooting took place late Thursday night; police arrested 24-year-old Darius Trevon Gardiner of Beaumont the next day in connection with the death. Dill’s funeral was held July 15, 2017, at Borden Chapel Baptist Church, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Gardiner was charged with murder, later pleaded guilty, and in 2018 received a 35-year prison sentence for the shooting. Police noted the case came amid a run of shootings and murders in Beaumont’s North End and urged residents to report suspicious activity.
