Chris Chappell was a 20-year-old Prairie View A&M University student who was killed on March 31, 2017. He was shot during a party held a block outside the university when multiple gunmen opened fire; three people were wounded in the incident and Chris later died of his injuries. Police estimated as many as 20 rounds were fired, but the number of shooters and a clear motive remained unclear.
No arrests had been announced and the investigation remained active. Chris’s death came less than a week after another Prairie View student, Tristan Houston, died in a separate incident, intensifying concern on campus. The student body president Jacolahn Dudley publicly called for improved safety measures and the university community rallied in mourning.
Did anyone at the party or nearby that night see something that could help investigators?
