Joselito Jun Anabo, 43, was shot and killed on April 25, 2012, in East Oakland while closing his popular Filipino restaurant, Lucky Three Seven. The shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m. on Brookdale Avenue near the restaurant and happened in front of his 11-year-old son. Responding officers found Anabo and he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Lucky Three Seven was described as a community hub known for feeding people in need; patrons remembered Anabo for his generosity. A memorial of flowers and tributes was placed in front of the restaurant and it remained temporarily closed. A GoFundMe page was created to support his son, Kiah, and to honor Anabo’s last wishes. Reports say motive is unclear, though some accounts link the shooting to a dispute over a truck Anabo had bought that was later found to be stolen. No arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved.

Does anyone who lived in East Oakland then or who knew Joselito have information that could help bring justice?
