Chris Nicolasora, a 38-year-old Filipino man, was shot and killed on January 13, 2017, in Vidor, Texas. He had gone to check on his landlord, James Adrian McClelland, 68, who Nicolasora thought was drunk. During the confrontation at McClelland’s residence, McClelland displayed a handgun and fired; Nicolasora was struck and collapsed in the front yard. Medics declared him dead at the scene and the Vidor Police Department responded after the gunshot.
McClelland was arrested and charged with murder and later released on a $100,000 bond. Nicolasora’s girlfriend, Deanna White, described how he ran to her after being shot and pleaded for help; she spoke of grieving the loss of a boyfriend who had recently been getting back on his feet after a period of homelessness following a diabetic coma. A memorial service was held in the community.
What details do readers have about Nicolasora’s last hours or the dispute that led him to check on his landlord?
