Joey Donted Gipson, a 22-year-old from Nacogdoches, Texas, was shot and killed during a home invasion on January 9, 2017. The attack happened in the 700 block of Arthur Weaver Street while four other people, including a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old, were in the house; none of them were injured. Investigators determined the shooting occurred during a burglary in which the intruders were reportedly seeking money and drugs.
Police used GPS tracking of cell phones to identify four suspects: Patrick Hughey, Rassium Franklin, Jamal Brown, and Kasey Brown. Subsequent prosecutions resulted in Kasey Brown receiving life without parole for capital murder, Patrick Hughey and Rassium Franklin getting 24-year sentences for aggravated robbery, and Jamal Brown receiving 25 years for murder. Detective Adam Sparks was credited with key investigative work in connecting evidence and suspects.
Does anyone have additional information about the events on Arthur Weaver Street that night or knew Joey Gipson and can shed light on his life?
