Hector Garcia Jr., 41, and his 3-year-old son Julian Garcia were shot and killed on November 7, 2016. Their bodies were found near the intersection of Woods Brothers Road and Segunada Road north of Rio Grande City, Texas. Investigators determined both were inside a vehicle when they were struck by fire from high-powered rifles; suspects were believed to have been in a blue Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The Starr County Sheriff’s Office investigated and at one point considered a possible connection to narcotics trafficking, but no definitive motive was established in the immediate aftermath.
