Amber Taylor, 28, of Paige, Texas, was found fatally shot on the side of the road in Del Valle on October 31, 2016. Her death was initially thought to be a hit-and-run; a preliminary autopsy later determined she died of gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide. Taylor was the mother of two young daughters, ages 6 and 8.
Authorities said the killing was believed to be drug-related. Investigators concluded Taylor had been shot inside a damaged black pickup truck that had been stolen and later recovered with bloodstains. Charles Jeremy Smith, 40, was arrested November 28, 2016, on a murder charge and an unauthorized-use-of-a-vehicle felony; an affidavit says Smith told a friend he shot Taylor because she was trying to provoke him over Mexicans. Smith was indicted in February 2018.
Her father Don Taylor described her as a kind-hearted mother who always smiled despite struggles with addiction. Does anyone have information about Amber’s movements in Del Valle in late October 2016 or about the stolen pickup involved in the case?
