David Scott Braswell, 53, of Bastrop, Texas, was one of four people found dead after a house fire on Linden Road in Del Valle on September 8, 2016. Investigators reported the victims’ wounds were inconsistent with the fire, indicating they may have been shot before the house was set ablaze. The other victims were Matthew Aaron Barber, 26, of Del Valle; Jacob Derr, 25, of Bastrop; and Brian Lee Satterfield, 41, of Bastrop.
Authorities said the buying and selling of narcotics may have been a factor. Barber had prior drug-related convictions in the Austin area; Satterfield and Braswell had criminal histories in Bastrop County that were not drug-related; Derr’s record showed only a few traffic citations. Physical evidence at the scene suggested the vehicle involved was missing its driver-side front window. No arrests have been announced.
Anyone with information about the killings or the missing driver-side front window is asked to come forward.
