Ricky Glenn Steele, 56, of La Marque, Texas, was found dead in his home on August 18, 2016. La Marque police determined he had been shot and suffered extensive trauma to his body and opened a homicide investigation.

On the same day officers arrested 22-year-old James Daniels Jr. in connection with the killing. Police said Steele allegedly owed Daniels money and that dispute was believed to be the motive; Daniels was charged with murder and held in the Harris County Jail on $150,000 bond. Local media covered the case and the department continued investigating to establish the full motive and gather additional evidence.

Steele’s death shocked the community and his family mourned a well-known resident. If anyone knew Steele or has information about his death, please come forward to assist the investigation.
